As the oldest of three boys raised by a single mother, he was responsible for cooking while his mother worked nights. At 17, he started working at Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club then moving to Sleepy Hollow. While working at Sleepy Hollow Curry met chef Nordeen Bennai. He followed chef Bennai to Pepperoni Grill where he worked for 5 years until moving with Bennai to Café 501 in Edmond. While working at Café 501, he could often be found helping on the line at Boulevard SteakHouse.

In 2000, he took a position at The Ranch SteakHouse as the broiler chef. Leaving in 2005, to help open Rococo Restaurant and Fine Wine, then returning in 2006. Shortly after returning Curry decided to attend culinary school. Upon graduation in 2008 he was promoted to sous chef. Eventually becoming executive chef of The Ranch.
In 2015, Chef Curry left The Ranch to pursue a short stint as executive chef at West. Just as important, this training program emphasizes teaching techniques so that graduates will feel comfortable leading a class and designing their own sequences after completion.

Week 3 of books to help understand what it mean Week 3 of books to help understand what it means to be Black in America. Please join us each week in February for a new book that has shaken us and changed us. Between the World and Me, by Ta-Nehisi Coates

Our two previous book suggestions, White Rage and Caste, examined history and systems. But this book is personal: it is Coates' anguished yet stoic attempt to prepare his son for life as a Black man in America. It offers no easy answers or happy ending, because they don't exist yet. If you are white, this book's greatest revelation might be the unrelenting fear of physical harm faced by Black men and women--and children. This threat comes from the law and from lawlessness, and Coates shows how American society tolerates both when they are directed at Blacks. Coates also draws out the million-fold meaning of his personal experience, by reminding us that millions of individual lives have been devastated by slavery and racism in America. It is uncomfortable. It can be overwhelming. But if we shy away, we fail the most basic test of our humanity: to look at another person's life and say, "That could have been me."
